Basic United Methodist Church, 489 N. Winchester Ave., corner of Delphine and Fifth Street, Waynesboro, the Rev. Don Gibson — The children’s choir will meet at 9:30 a.m. Church school begins at 9:45 a.m.

The Sunday morning worship service will begin at 11 a.m. An Hispanic worship service will be held at 6 p.m. Also at 6 p.m., the United Methodist Youth Fellowship will meet.

On Monday through Thursday, tutoring will be held from 4-5:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, Hispanic prayer time is at 5:30 p.m., prayer time is at 6 p.m. Choir practice and adult ESL are at 7 p.m.

Bethany Lutheran Church, 100 Maple Ave., Waynesboro, Pastor Timothy Bohlmann — Sunday school for all ages begins at 9:45 a.m., allowing children and adults to participate together in an opening and then break into groups based on age for further Bible study and activities. Traditional worship is at 8:30 a.m. and contemporary worship is at 11 a.m. Nursery services will be available all morning.

Other ministry areas include Christ Care Small Group ministry, music ministry, with handbells and choir, and a senior ministry, which meets each Wednesday at 10 a.m. for Bible study. We also offer a variety of activities for middle school and high school youth.

First Presbyterian Church, 100 East Frederick St., Staunton, Dr. Richard S. Dietrich — Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m. Worship will begin at 11 a.m. The Rev. Joseph Brandon will deliver the message, “We Just Don’t Get It,” based on the Bible text John 14:1-14.

Bible study is at 10:30 a.m., 6:45 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.

Bible study will take place on Wednesday with Dr. Richard Dietrich. The study will be based on Bible text 1 Peter 3:13-22. Morning study will be held from 10:30-11:30 a.m. in the chapel. Evening study will take place in the Potter Building from 6:45-7:45 p.m.

First Presbyterian Church, 11th Street and Wayne Avenue, Waynesboro, the Rev. Glen Holman — A service will begin at 8:30 a.m., with communion served. Praise and worship is at 9:30 a.m. and traditional worship is at 11 a.m. The Rev. Glen Holman will deliver the message, “Taking a Stand,” with Acts 7:54-60 serving as the text.

The Sunday school schedule is as follows:

9:30-11 a.m. — ages 3-5.

9:30-10:30 a.m. or 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. — kindergarten through fifth grade

9:30-10:30 a.m. — Sixth to eighth grade.

10:30 a.m. to noon — ninth to 12th grade.

9:30 a.m. — adult Sunday school.

On Thursday at 7 a.m., the men’s Bible study group will meet at Cracker Barrel to discuss the Book of Romans. Women’s Bible study meets at the church at 1 p.m. The food bank opens at 2 p.m.

Fishersville Baptist Church, 1518 Jefferson Highway, Fishersville, Pastor John Hamric – Sunday school begins at 9:40 a.m., for all ages. Sunday services will be held at 8:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Summer hours will be in effect from June 1 to August 31 and will be as follows: Sunday school will begin at 9 a.m. Worship services will be at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

The following will take place on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.; adult Bible study, TeamKid (ages 3 through the fifth grade) and Set Apart Youth. Choir rehearsal begins at 7:30 p.m.

Fishersville Baptist Church will host a block party for all ages on April 26 from noon to 4 p.m. in the church parking lot. Activities include moon walks, platform games, popcorn, snow cones, hotdogs, face painting and more. All the activities and food are free. At the end of the event, everyone who is registered will have a chance to win a prize.

Fishersville United Methodist Church, 1600 Jefferson Highway, across from the post office, Fishersville, the Rev. Roy P. White – Sunday school begins at 9:45 a.m., including 10 adult Sunday school classes.

An informal worship service will begin at 8:30 a.m., with a traditional service starting at 11 a.m.

The pastor will deliver the sermon, “The Living Stone,” based on the Bible text Acts 7:55-60, 1 Peter 2:2-10 and John 14:1-14.

Main Street United Methodist Church, 601 West Main St., Waynesboro, Pastor Todd Schlechty — Sunday school meets at 9:45 a.m. on Sundays. Contemporary worship service is at 8:30 a.m., with a traditional service taking place at 11 a.m. A children’s worship service will also begin at 11 a.m.

The sermon for this Sunday will be “The Cost of Worship,” delivered by Pastor Todd Schlechty. The message will be based on the Bible text, 1 Chronicles 21:18-27.

On Wednesday evening, the Wednesday Night Family Meal will take place from 5:15-6 p.m. Discipleship small groups will meet at 6 p.m.

Mint Spring United Methodist ChurchOn May 3, from 3-7 p.m., join the congregation in a Party on the Lawn. Enjoy a barbecue chicken plate, hamburgers, hot dogs, coleslaw, baked beans, rolls, homemade ice cream, baked goods and beverages. The cost for the dinner is $7 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under.

The Faithful Men will sing at 5:30 p.m. A local ecuminical group, the vocalists love the Lord and lift their voices in worship and praise.

There will be plenty of children’s activities including a bounce house, duck pond, face painting and games.

Bring your own lawn chairs. Proceeds from the event will go to benefit the Mint Spring United Methodist Church building fund.

Mt. Eagle Baptist Church, Adial Road, Faber – The church will hold the following events:

April 20 – During morning worship, at 11 a.m. a friends and family event will take place. Refreshments will be served.

April 21-25 – A spring revival will be held nightly at 7:30 p.m. The Rev. Vernon Lee will be the evangelist for the week, with a guest choir each night.

Mt. Paran Baptist Church, 1229 Mount Paran Church Road, Elkton, Pastor A.T. Crawley – The church will celebrate their 123rd anniversary on Sunday at 3 p.m. The pastor and his choir will be in charge of the services. Dinner will be served after the morning service and refreshments will be served after the afternoon services.

Mt. Salem Baptist Church, 1015 Stuart St., Staunton – A youth workshop will be held April 25-27.

Friday, April 25, at 7 p.m. – Joy Night with local youth groups performing.

Saturday, April 26, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Minister Rashaad Cartwright, of Virginia Beach, will lead the workshop. Cost is $5 per person. Lunch will be provided.

Sunday, April 27, 10 a.m. – Minister Cartwright will lead the 10 a.m. morning worship service.

Oak Hill United Methodist Church, 1862 Lyndhurst Road, Waynesboro – The church will host a tenderloin and gravy dinner on Saturday from 4-7 p.m. Menu items will include tenderloin, gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, slaw, rolls, beverages and assorted desserts. The cost for the dinner is $7 for adults and $3.50 for children ages 10 and under.

Ridgeview Baptist Church, 124 Ridgeview Drive, Stuarts Draft, Pastor Don McClure — Sunday school, for all ages, will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday morning worship service will begin at 11 a.m.

Rodes United Methodist Church will host The Crestmen in concert on Saturday at 7 p.m. The church is located at 286 Avon Road, in Afton. This Southern gospel quartet has traveled extensively across the nation for the many years spreading the gospel through song. They made their first appearance in Nelson County last August.

Members of the group are Charlie Probst of Mount Crawford, Ricky Hall of Staunton, Tim Williams of Waynesboro and Kevin Rexrode.

Second Presbyterian Church, 133 N. Delphine Ave., Waynesboro, The Rev. Dr. John L. McDonaldSunday school classes meet from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. This Sunday, the preschool and Kids’ Journeys in Faith class will study “Jesus Called Disciples.” The Thoughtful Sunday school class will study faith issues.

Waynesboro Church of God, 2026 Lyndhurst Road, Waynesboro, Pastor Mary Boyne – The church’s spring revival will be held April 18-20. Friday and Saturday services will begin at 7 p.m., with the Sunday service beginning at 11 a.m. There will be a meal following the Sunday morning service. The guest speaker will be Bruce Catlett of Mt. Sidney. Special music will be featured at each service. Please join the congregation for a time of spiritual renewal.

Waynesboro Covenant Church, Pastor Keith Harris – This Sunday, the congregation will meet at the new location in the upper room of First Presbyterian Church. The service will begin at 11 a.m. The upper room is handicapped accessible, just ask about the elevator.

The pastor will deliver the message, “Search and Rescue,” from the book of Acts. The service will include children’s church, special music and contemporary worship. Waynesboro Covenant Church is a community church dedicated to the Lord Jesus Christ and his radical lifestyle of love. The church is non-denominational and everyone is welcome. Waynesboro Free Methodist Church, corner of Ivy Street and Hopeman Parkway, Pastor David Kurtz — Waynesboro Free Methodist Church invites you to fellowship this Sunday morning.

Sunday school classes, for all ages, begin at 9:30 a.m. Worship service begins at 10:30 a.m.

The Sunday morning worship service will be conducted by the teens of the church. Come and give them your support.

Waynesboro Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1700 Lyndhurst Road, Waynesboro, Pastor Will Johns — This Saturday, Sabbath school is at 9:30 a.m., with Bible study classes geared specifically for children from birth through age 18. There are also several adult classes available, which are currently studying the topic of the wonder of Jesus.

The main worship service is at 10:50 a.m. and includes time for singing, prayer and a Bible message from the pastor. All are welcome.

Waynesboro Seventh-day Adventist is hosting a Financial Peace Seminar as a service to the community. Classes are held every Sunday, through June 1, at 3 p.m.

Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1904 Mt. Vernon St., Waynesboro, Dr. Jonathon Lovelady — The Red Door contemporary service is at 9:30 a.m. in the chapel. Blended service is at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary. Dr. Lovelady will deliver the message “Growing Better Relationships: Soil,” based on the Bible text Galatians 5:16-18.

Sunday school classes, for children and adults, are held at 9:45 a.m. and 11 a.m. to accommodate persons attending both worship services.

Junior high fellowship will be held at 6 p.m. and TLC (high school fellowship) will be held at 7 p.m.

The Community Bible Study announces their newest study. The title of the six-week study is “Fully Alive: Step into a life of Freedom and Fullness in Christ,” with James Robison and Beth Moore.

The study will take place Thursdays, concluding May 22, from 9-11:30 a.m. at Fishersville Baptist Church. The cost is $5 and includes a workbook and childcare. The Oak Grove Baptist Church Restoration Ministries Brothers United in Christ Ministry will be having a car wash on Saturday in the K-Mart parking lot starting at 9 a.m. Please come by and get your car washed. The Wayne Hills United Methodist Church will serve a ham dinner on April 26. The menu will include baked ham, macaroni and cheese, peas, tossed salad, a roll, dessert and a beverage. The price is $8 for adults, $5 for youth and free for children under 12 years old. The doors will open at 4:30 p.m. The church is located at 932 Fir Street in Waynesboro.

Grace Christian School’s annual Boots and Bandana Benefit Auction will be held on April 26. More than 400 items will be auctioned off during the silent and live auctions. The silent auction starts at 2 p.m. A barbecue dinner and live entertainment will be from 5-6 p.m. The live auction begins at 6 p.m. Over 500 items will be auctioned off. The auction will be held at the Grace Christian School Activities Center, which is located at 1218 Middlebrook Ave. in Staunton. The United Methodist Women of Lyndhurst United Methodist Church will sponsor a sausage gravy breakfast at the church, located at 2835 Lyndhurst Road, on April 26, beginning at 6:30 a.m. The menu is sausage gravy, biscuits, eggs, hash brown potatoes, apples, juice and coffee.
