Basic United Methodist Church, 489 N. Winchester Ave., corner of Delphine and Fifth Street, Waynesboro, the Rev. Don Gibson — The children’s choir will meet at 9:30 a.m. Church school begins at 9:45 a.m.
The Sunday morning worship service will begin at 11 a.m. An Hispanic worship service will be held at 6 p.m. Also at 6 p.m., the United Methodist Youth Fellowship will meet.
There will be no school or tutoring on Monday, April 28.
Tuesday through Thursday, tutoring will be held from 4-5:30 p.m.
Tuesday, Hispanic prayer time is at 5:30 p.m., prayer time is at 6 p.m. Choir practice and adult ESL are at 7 p.m.
On Thursday, an education meeting will be held at 6 p.m. An administrative council meeting will take place at 7 p.m.

Bethany Lutheran Church, 100 Maple Ave., Waynesboro, Pastor Timothy Bohlmann — Sunday school for all ages begins at 9:45 a.m., allowing children and adults to participate together in an opening and then break into groups based on age for further Bible study and activities. Traditional worship is at 8:30 a.m. and contemporary worship is at 11 a.m. Nursery services will be available all morning.
Other ministry areas include Christ Care Small Group ministry, music ministry, with handbells and choir, and a senior ministry, which meets each Wednesday at 10 a.m. for Bible study. We also offer a variety of activities for middle school and high school youth.

Calvary Baptist Church, 68 Benz Road, Waynesboro, Pastor W.T. Cole and Associate Pastor Joey Locklear – Sunday school classes begin at 9:45 a.m., with an 11 a.m. worship service led by Pastor Cole. Children’s church will be provided during the morning service. An evening service will begin at 6 p.m., led by Associate Pastor Locklear. Nursery care will be available during both services.

On April 26, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., the church will host a hot dog, ham biscuit and bake sale at Wal-Mart in Waynesboro. All funds will go to the church’s building fund.
First Presbyterian Church, 100 East Frederick St., Staunton, Dr. Richard S. Dietrich — Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m. Worship will begin at 11 a.m. Dr. Richard S. Dietrich will deliver the message, “He Descended Into Hell,” based on the Bible text 1 Peter 3:13-22.
Bible study is at 10:30 a.m., 6:45 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.
Bible study will take place on Wednesday, April 30, with Dr. Richard Dietrich. The study will be based on Bible text Luke 24:44-53. Morning study will be held from 10:30-11:30 a.m. in the chapel. Evening study will take place in the Potter Building from 6:45-7:45 p.m.

First Presbyterian Church, 11th Street and Wayne Avenue, Waynesboro, the Rev. Glen Holman — A service will begin at 8:30 a.m., with communion served. Praise and worship is at 9:30 a.m. and traditional worship is at 11 a.m. The Rev. Glen Holman will deliver the message, “The Living God,” with Acts 17:23-31 serving as the text.
The Sunday school schedule is as follows:
9:30-11 a.m. — ages 3-5.
9:30-10:30 a.m. or 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. — kindergarten through fifth grade
9:30-10:30 a.m. — Sixth to eighth grade.
10:30 a.m. to noon — ninth to 12th grade.
9:30 a.m. — adult Sunday school.
On Thursday at 7 a.m., the men’s Bible study group will meet at Cracker Barrel to discuss the Book of Romans. Women’s Bible study meets at the church at 1:30 p.m. The food bank opens at 2 p.m.

Fishersville Baptist Church, 1518 Jefferson Highway, Fishersville, Pastor John Hamric – Sunday school begins at 9:40 a.m., for all ages. Sunday services will be held at 8:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
Summer hours will be in effect from June 1 to August 31 and will be as follows: Sunday school will begin at 9 a.m. Worship services will be at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
The following will take place on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.: Adult Bible study, TeamKid (ages 3 through the fifth grade) and Set Apart Youth. Choir rehearsal begins at 7:30 p.m.
Fishersville Baptist Church will host a block party for all ages on April 26 from noon to 4 p.m. in the church parking lot. Activities include moon walks, platform games, popcorn, snow cones, hotdogs, face painting and more. All the activities and food are free. At the end of the event, everyone who is registered will have a chance to win a prize.

Main Street United Methodist Church, 601 West Main St., Waynesboro, Pastor Todd Schlechty — Sunday school meets at 9:45 a.m. on Sundays. Contemporary worship service is at 8:30 a.m., with a traditional service taking place at 11 a.m. A children’s worship service will also begin at 11 a.m.
The sermon for this Sunday will be “Jesus for Everyone,” delivered by Pastor Todd Schlechty. The message will be based on the Bible text, Acts 8:26-40.
On Wednesday evening, the Wednesday Night Family Meal will take place from 5:15-6 p.m. Discipleship small groups will meet at 6 p.m.

Mint Spring United Methodist Church – On May 3, from 3-7 p.m., join the congregation in a Party on the Lawn. Enjoy a barbecue chicken plate, hamburgers, hot dogs, coleslaw, baked beans, rolls, homemade ice cream, baked goods and beverages. The cost for the dinner is $7 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under.
The Faithful Men will sing at 5:30 p.m. A local ecuminical group, the vocalists love the Lord and lift their voices in worship and praise.
There will be plenty of children’s activities including a bounce house, duck pond, face painting and games.
Bring your own lawn chairs. Proceeds from the event will go to benefit the Mint Spring United Methodist Church building fund.
Mt. Eagle Baptist Church, Adial Road, Faber – April 25 will be the last night of the church’s spring revival starting at 7:30 p.m. The Rev. Vernon Lee will be the evangelist, and a guest choir will provide the music.
Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, 241 Sandy Ridge Road, Waynesboro, the Rev. Theresa K. Woodson – The church will celebrate its 98th anniversary on Sunday, April 27, at 3 p.m. Guest speaker for the service will be the Rev. Glenwood Morgan, pastor of the Mt. Eagle Baptist Church in Nellysford. Music will be provided by the Mt. Eagle Baptist Church choir.
Mt. Salem Baptist Church, 1015 Stuart St., Staunton – A youth workshop will be held Friday through Sunday.
Friday, 7 p.m. – Joy Night with local youth groups performing.
Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Minister Rashaad Cartwright, of Virginia Beach, will lead the workshop. Cost is $5 per person. Lunch will be provided.
Sunday, 10 a.m. – Minister Cartwright will lead the 10 a.m. morning worship service.
Pleasant View United Methodist Church, 312 Port Republic Road, Waynesboro, Pastor J. Avery Miller – Sunday school begins at 9 a.m. The Sunday worship service takes place at 10 a.m. Pastor J. Avery Miller will deliver the message “That’s It, I Quit.”

McDonald — Sunday school classes meet from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. This Sunday, the preschool and Kids’ Journeys in Faith class will study “Jesus Called Disciples.” The Thoughtful Sunday school class will study faith issues.

Dr. Celeste R. Thomas of James Madison University is scheduled to be the keynote speaker. Music will be provided by the Beverly Manor Baptist Church Youth Choir. Refreshments will be served immediately after the program. The public is welcome.
Youth Ministry leaders are having a fundraiser called The Footprint Rally on Saturday, May 10, at 4 p.m. The music will be rendered by the St. James Mass Choir of Waynesboro and the Beverly Manor Youth Choir. Stuarts Draft Full Gospel Church – Laura and Eddie Beckford will be speaking at the church on Tuesday, May 6 at 7 p.m. The Beckfords are missionaries to Arad, Israel. They will be sharing testimonies, sharing about their ministry and about the persecution of Christian beliefs in Arad.

Waynesboro Covenant Church, Pastor Keith Harris – This Sunday, the congregation will meet at the new location in the upper room of First Presbyterian Church. The service will begin at 11 a.m. The upper room is handicapped accessible, just ask about the elevator.

Waynesboro Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1700 Lyndhurst Road, Waynesboro, Pastor Will Johns — This Saturday, Sabbath school is at 9:30 a.m., with Bible study classes geared specifically for children from birth through age 18. There are also several adult classes available, which are currently studying the topic of the wonder of Jesus.
The main worship service is at 10:50 a.m. and includes time for singing, prayer and a Bible message from the pastor. All are welcome.
Waynesboro Seventh-day Adventist is hosting a Financial Peace Seminar as a service to the community. Classes are held every Sunday, through June 1, at 3 p.m.

Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1904 Mt. Vernon St., Waynesboro, Dr. Jonathon Lovelady — The Red Door contemporary service is at 9:30 a.m. in the chapel. Blended service is at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary. Dr. Lovelady will deliver the message “Growing Better Relationships: Weeds,” based on the Bible text Galatians 5:16-21.

The Community Bible Study announces their newest study. The title of the six-week study is “Fully Alive: Step into a life of Freedom and Fullness in Christ,” with James Robison and Beth Moore.
The study will take place Thursdays, concluding May 22, from 9-11:30 a.m. at Fishersville Baptist Church. The cost is $5 and includes a workbook and childcare. The Wayne Hills United Methodist Church will serve a ham dinner on April 26. The menu will include baked ham, macaroni and cheese, peas, tossed salad, a roll, dessert and a beverage. Grace Christian School’s annual Boots and Bandana Benefit Auction will be held on April 26. More than 400 items will be auctioned off during the silent and live auctions. The silent auction starts at 2 p.m. A barbecue dinner and live entertainment will be from 5-6 p.m. The live auction begins at 6 p.m. Over 500 items will be auctioned off. The auction will be held at the Grace Christian School Activities Center, which is located at 1218 Middlebrook Ave. in Staunton. The United Methodist Women of Lyndhurst United Methodist Church will sponsor a sausage gravy breakfast at the church, located at 2835 Lyndhurst Road, on April 26, beginning at 6:30 a.m. The menu is sausage gravy, biscuits, eggs, hash brown potatoes, apples, juice and coffee. Brent and Darlene Pirkey will debut a new CD at the annual Brent Pirkey Ministries benefit concert on Saturday at William Perry Elementary School. The music will start at 6 p.m. Pizza will be served. Brent will be playing a beautiful grand piano courtesy of Gary’s Pianos in Harrisonburg. The community will have an opportunity to hear several featured guests including Tony Fortune, Terry Kent and the Celebration Church choir. Proceeds will be used to expand a music ministry that touches communities from Mississippi to Massachusetts.
Shiloh Baptist Church will hold a May Friendship Day service on May 2. The theme will be “God’s Wisdom Inspires Hospitality,” written by Pauline Robertson and Joan Brown, members of the Celebration Committee.
All are invited to come and plant a seed of hospitality and reap a bouquet of friendship. The Christian Women Ministry will provide special music. Fellowship is at 10 a.m. Worship is at 10:30 a.m. The event will be sponsored by Waynesboro Church Women United. All are welcome.
The Tuesday Morning Afton Men’s Fellowship invites you to join them in a special National Day of Prayer service for the nation on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Rodes United Methodist Church. The group represents Rodes UMC, Hebron Baptist Church, Union Baptist Church, Church of the Blue Ridge, Christ Fellowship Church and Afton Chapel.
This is the 52nd annual National Day of Prayer. This year’s theme, “Righteousness Exalts a Nation,” is based on Proverbs 14:34, “Righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a disgrace to any people.” This is a critical time for our nation.
