Basic United Methodist Church, 489 N. Winchester Ave., corner of Delphine and Fifth Street, Waynesboro, the Rev. Don Gibson — This week’s schedule is as follows:
Sunday: 9:30 a.m. – children’s choir practice; 9:45 a.m. – church school; 11 a.m. – morning worship; 6 p.m. – Hispanic worship service; and 6 p.m. – UM Youth Fellowship.
Monday: There will be no school or tutoring today.
Tuesday: 4-5:30 p.m. – tutoring; 5:30 p.m. – Hispanic prayer time; 6 p.m. – prayer time; 7 p.m. – adult choir practice; and 7 p.m. – adult ESL.
Wednesday: 4-5:30 p.m. – tutoring.
Thursday: 4-5:30 p.m. – tutoring.

Bethany Lutheran Church, 100 Maple Ave., Waynesboro, Pastor Timothy Bohlmann — Sunday school for all ages begins at 9:45 a.m., allowing children and adults to participate together in an opening and then break into groups based on age for further Bible study and activities. Traditional worship is at 8:30 a.m. and contemporary worship is at 11 a.m. Nursery services will be available all morning.
Other ministry areas include Christ Care Small Group ministry, music ministry, with handbells and choir, and a senior ministry, which meets each Wednesday at 10 a.m. for Bible study. The church also offers a variety of activities for middle school and high school youth.

Bible Truth Church, 16 Draft Ave., Stuarts Draft – The congregation welcomes all to its Open House on May 31 from noon to 2 p.m. This will be a time for anyone in the community to come out and learn about the church’s history, congregate with the members, get to know church leaders, as well as learn about the goodness of the Lord! The church will be having free food and drinks for all who attend and there will be door prizes given away. Calvary Baptist Church, 68 Benz Road, Waynesboro, Pastor W.T. Cole and Associate Pastor Joey Locklear – Sunday school classes begin at 9:45 a.m., with an 11 a.m. worship service led by Pastor Cole. Children’s church will be provided during the morning service. An evening service will begin at 6 p.m., led by Associate Pastor Locklear. Nursery care will be available during both services.
A Wednesday Bible study and prayer meeting will take place at 7 p.m., with Brian Read.
Children’s programs will be held during both the Sunday and Wednesday evening services.
First Presbyterian Church, 100 East Frederick St., Staunton, Dr. Richard S. Dietrich — Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m. Worship will begin at 11 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Richard S. Dietrich will deliver the message, “Tomorrow,” based on the Bible text Matthew 6:24-34.
Bible study will resume in the fall.
Vacation Bible School will take place June 22-26 from 5:45-8 p.m.

First Presbyterian Church, 11th Street and Wayne Avenue, Waynesboro, the Rev. Glen Holman — A service will begin at 8:30 a.m., with communion served. Praise and worship is at 9:30 a.m. and traditional worship is at 11 a.m. Guest speaker, Ron Artz will deliver the message, “Ease of Christianity,” with 1 Corinthians 13:1-13 serving as the text.
There will be no Sunday school this Sunday. Next week, the summer program begins, with the children all beginning the worship service with their parents and then being dismissed for their classes.
On Thursday at 7 a.m., the men’s Bible study group will meet at Summit Square to discuss the Book of Romans. Women’s Bible study meets at the church at 1:30 p.m. to study Bible references to prayer. Newcomers are welcomed. The food bank opens at 2 p.m.

Fishersville Baptist Church, 1518 Jefferson Highway, Fishersville, Pastor John Hamric – Sunday school begins at 9:40 a.m., for all ages. Sunday services will be held at 8:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
Summer hours will be in effect from June 1 to August 31 and will be as follows: Sunday school will begin at 9 a.m. Worship services will be at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
The following will take place on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.: Adult Bible study, TeamKid (ages 3 through the fifth grade) and Set Apart Youth. Choir rehearsal begins at 7:30 p.m.

Main Street United Methodist Church, 601 West Main St., Waynesboro, Pastor Todd Schlechty — Sunday school meets at 9:30 a.m. on Sundays. Contemporary worship service is at 8:30 a.m., with a traditional service taking place at 11 a.m.
The sermon for this Sunday will be “Pressing On,” delivered by the pastor. The message will be based on the Bible text, 6:8-7:60.
The Wednesday Night Family Meal will be from 5:15-6 p.m. Discipleship small groups will meet at 6 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Marquis Memorial United Methodist Church, 1614 West Beverley Street, Staunton – The church will host a spaghetti dinner on June 7 to benefit a Youth Mission Trip to Romney, W.Va. The dinner will be held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the church. Cost for the meal will be $6 for adults and $4 for children ages 4-10. The menu will include spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, dessert, coffee, water and tea. Take out orders will be available. Call 886-1176 on the day of the supper.
Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, New Hope – Former Members’ Day will be observed on June 25 at the church, which is located in New Hope. Beginning at 1 p.m., The Gospel Inspirations and other talented singers will present the program of sacred music. Dinner will be served immediately following the program. All are welcome. The Reverend Lucy Jackson Hughes is church pastor.
Mt. Woodland Baptist Church, Greenfield – The 22nd annual Memorial Sunday worship service will be held this Sunday at 11 a.m. The sermon will be delivered by the pastor. A memorial observation will be included in the service with the blessing of the flowers to be placed in the cemetery and a recognition of the veterans in the congregation. Those attending are asked to wear red, white and blue in honor of the occasion (if desired). Everyone is invited to attend.

Oak Hill United Methodist Church, 1862 Lyndhurst Road, Waynesboro – The church will have their semi-annual breakfast, bake sale and yard sale on May 31 from 7 a.m. to noon. The breakfast menu will include a sausage biscuit for $1.25, a sausage and egg biscuit for $1.50 and a tenderloin and gravy biscuit for $2. Ridgeview Baptist Church, 124 Ridgeview Drive, Stuarts Draft, Pastor Don McClure – Sunday school, for all ages, begins at 10 a.m. The worship service begins at 11 a.m. Pastor McClure will deliver the message, “Home Improvement Series: Dealing with Stress.” At 5 p.m. a Sunday evening picnic, for all ages, will be held. Rockfish Valley Baptist Church, 3395 Rockfish Valley Highway, Nellysford, Pastor James Lundy – Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m. The morning worship service begins at 11 a.m., with an evening service at 6 p.m.

Second Presbyterian Church, 133 N. Delphine Ave., Waynesboro, The Rev. Dr. John L. McDonald — Sunday school classes meet from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. This Sunday, the pre-school and Kids’ Journeys in Faith class will study “Early Life of Moses.” The Thoughtful Sunday school class will study faith issues.
The worship service will be from 11 a.m. to noon. The Reverend will deliver the sermon, “The Cure for Care,” based on the Bible text Isaiah 49:8-16 and Matthew 6:24-34.

On Tuesday, Disciples’ Kitchen will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., with Dooms Ruritan Church serving. At 7 p.m., a session meeting will be held.

On Thursday, Disciples’ Kitchen will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., with Emmanuel Episcopal Church serving.

Meals on Wheels will span the month of May.
On the third Wednesday of each month, the food pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to noon. On the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, Mary Baker Quilters will meet from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Every Tuesday and Thursday, Disciples’ Kitchen is held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Starting June 2, the church will serve on Mondays, as well.

Springdale Mennonite Church, 170 Hall School Road, Waynesboro – The church invites the children of the community to Summer Bible School from June 15-19. A light supper will be served beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by an evening of “Power Lab” Bible School beginning at 6:15 p.m. Children in pre-school through the fifth grade are welcome to attend. Pastor Ed Carl will begin a series entitled “The Church You Always Longed For.” The first sermon of the series is entitled, “Becoming a Church That Cares,” taken from the Bible text Philippians 2:1-11. A memorial service will also be included for all members and friends of the church who have died in the past year.

Waynesboro Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1700 Lyndhurst Road, Waynesboro, Pastor Will Johns — This Saturday, Sabbath school is at 9:30 a.m., with Bible study classes geared specifically for children from birth through age 18. There are also several adult classes available, which are currently studying the topic of the wonder of Jesus.
The main worship service is at 10:50 a.m. and includes time for singing, prayer and a Bible message from the pastor. All are welcome.
Waynesboro Seventh-day Adventist is hosting a Financial Peace Seminar as a service to the community. Classes are held every Sunday, through June 1, at 3 p.m.

Second Presbyterian Church will host a chicken barbecue featuring John Boy’s Chicken on Saturday in the church parking lot. Cost for food will be $4 for a half and $5 for dinner. Proceeds go to weekday religious education. Call 943-3211 for pre-orders. Starting at 8 a.m., the barbecue will also include a bake sale, book sale and white elephant sale. Blue Ridge Chapel Church of the Brethren will host the First Annual Benefit Concert for the Faith Primary School on May 31. Special guests will include Susan and Debbie Sandridge of “Only Grace,” providing music from 4-6 p.m. From 6-7 p.m., Global Puppet Ministries will present a puppet show. Starting at 7 p.m., Glen Shelton and Smokey Wilson; and the Dan Keeton Quartet (formerly of the Dixie Melody Boys) will perform. Food and drinks will be available. Other activities will include crafts and face painting. T-shirts and CDs will also be available.
Blue Ridge Chapel Church of the Brethren is located at 19 Brown’s Lane in Waynesboro. Tickets will be available at the Faith Primary School, Jackie B’s in Waynesboro, Mane Effect Hair Salon in Staunton and Blessings Christian Book Store in Harrisonburg.
On Sunday, September 28, the congregation of Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church will welcome Franklin Graham, CEO and president of Samaritan’s Purse and the son of the Rev. Billy Graham. While at the historic Fishersville church, Graham will be able to visit the gravestone of his great-great-great-great grandfather, the Rev. John McCue, who served as the church’s third minister from 1791 until his death in 1818.
“Our church is thrilled to have this historic connection to such a wonderful family. We look forward to having Franklin Graham lead us in the worship of our God on September 28 as we celebrate what God has done and is doing in the life of Tinkling Spring,” said Tinkling Spring pastor, the Rev. Jason Whitener.
Graham is expected to deliver the message during the 11 a.m. worship service. Plans are under way to provide room for visitors at Tinkling Spring during the service. “We will make every effort to welcome visitors from our community to worship on the 28th. It is always a joy to have guests with us, any time they’re able to come!” Whitener said.
