Gabby Haze's first album is now hot and ready for the CD release party to be held along with a benefit concert for PACE at Prince Michel Winery, 154 Winery Lane, Leon, located off U.S. 29 North near Charlottesville on Saturday, Aug. 25, from 6-9 p.m.

"This is an outdoor family event, we ask that you come, bring a chair and a cooler, if you'd like," said Gabby Haze band member Dan Layman.

Opening for Gabby Haze is Mama Jess and the Moonrise. Admission is $5 and all proceeds from the CD sales and the concert will go to PACE. Gabby Haze will also be playing Sept. 22, at Captain Sam's in Waynesboro from 7:30-10:30 p.m.

"We are very happy with the CD," said Layman. "We like the package and the sound quality. - This has been a real project for us and its great to have it finally complete. All of us have known or played music together for a very long time. We've been talking about getting this album done for a very long time. We hope to get some air play. We also hope to use the CD to get more festival gigs and to explore some new venues. Following the release, I look forward to learning Dave's two new songs ("The Three Ladies Together" and "To You") as a band. I also look forward to writing more myself and having the band perform more of my songs. I have a blues called "Free and Easy" that we are doing live. I look forward to recording it with the band in the future.

"We hope to have a good turn out at the benefit concert at Prince Michel. Mama Jess and the Moonrise and Gabby Haze are both playing for free," Layman added. "All profits from the show and from the CD sales will be donated to the Patti Magnone Scholarship Fund to benefit PACE and their work with at-risk young women. We are happy to help provide them with educational opportunities and advocacy. Mary Marx of PACE will attend the concert and speak during our break."

Other band members are excited about this CD release as well.

"The thing I look forward to after the release of Living Room Music is the opportunity to write and record some new songs," said band member Dave Magnone. "I hope that the CD will give us a tool that will help us get performance gigs at outdoor festivals and events. I really like to share our music with others and hope to be able to connect with a larger audience. Recording is fun, but there is nothing better than sharing a moment with an appreciative audience. This project has been great fun and a labor of love, but now that it is behind us I am ready for new challenges."

Another member of Gabby Haze, Jess Layman-Herr, daughter of Dan Layman, can't remember a time when she wasn't singing with her dad.

"I grew up listening to my dad play music with Dave [Magnone], Carl [Bailey] and Bill Yetzer," said Layman-Herr. "I have known them all since I was born and they are like family to me. The first time I sang on stage, I was three years old and I sang 'You are My Sunshine' with Bill Yetzer's daughter, Emily. - I started playing guitar in high school, but I've been singing with Dad as long as I can remember. This benefit is very special to me because Patti Magnone, who was Dave's wife that passed away from leukemia, was like a second mom to me. She was the most beautiful and positive person I have ever met, and always brought sunshine into any room she entered."

The new CDs will be available at the show and profits will also be donated to PACE. Prince Michel wines, non-alcoholic beverages and various foods will be available for purchase. The CD will be available also at other gigs and at Plan 9 in Harrisonburg.

The CD was produced by J.T. Thorton, Dave Magnone and Dan Layman and recorded and mixed at the Troll In The Hole Studios in Waynesboro. The CD was also engineered by Thornton.
