American Legion Post 340 East Augusta County meets the first Tuesday of every month at 7:30 p.m.

The Augusta County Genealogical Society will meet on the third Wednesdays of each month at 1 p.m. in meeting Room “A” of the Waynesboro Public Library.  The public is invited.  For more information, call David Riel, 885-2277.

The Augusta County Railroad Club meets the third Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. at the Augusta County Library in Fishersville. There is a work night every Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the club’s location in the Kroger shopping center on Arch Avenue in Waynesboro to work on new modules, repair track, etc., and members are available to advise and assist anyone wishing help with model railroading. The club is also open to the public the last Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with trains operating on several layouts. A Bipolar Disorder Support Group will meet every Thursday at 2 p.m. at Valley Hope Counseling Center, Waynesboro, in the Stoneridge Office Complex. This group is for persons (and families) who are affected by bipolar disorder;  newcomers welcome.

The Blue Ridge Corvette Club always welcomes visitors and prospective members.  The group meets the second Monday of each month. For more information, call 248-1748.

Cat’s Cradle is at the Waynesboro PetSmart on Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for anyone interested in foster parenting or adopting a pet. To donate or volunteer, visit the Web site at http://www.catscradleva.org or call 438-5222.

Chrysalis, a spiritual group that presents speakers on spiritual, alternative health or environmental topics, meets the first Sunday of every month at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Waynesboro, 565 Pine Ave. and 14th Street, from 3-5 p.m. Info: 949-6276.

The Disabled Veterans in Waynesboro group meets the first Tuesday of every month at Gavid’s in Waynesboro.

DuPont Pensioners meet the second Wednesday of every month at Country Cookin’ in Staunton at 11:15 a.m. The DuPont Pensioners Breakfast Club meets at Rowe’s Restaurant, U.S. 250, Staunton, at 8 a.m. the second Tuesday of each month.  Info: 324-0799.

Shenandoah Valley Grief Services will offer a offer a Grief Support Group on Wednesday evenings, March 19 through May 7, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 500 S. Wayne Ave., Waynesboro. There is no charge, but organizers ask that you preregister by calling Cynthia Long Lasher, D.Min., at (540) 383-2902.

Hoe ‘n’ Hope Garden Club meets the second Monday of each month. For more information, call 943-4446.

The How To Garden Club meets on the third Thursday of every month at the Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, 364 Bridge Ave.  The club is open to the public.  For more information, call 942-2074 or 943-1041.

The Infertility and Pregnancy Loss Support Group meets the first Wednesday of each month. The meetings begin at 7 p.m. at the Woman’s Center in Fishersville, across from AMC. Call Kim Powell at 943-9711 for more information.

The Leather and Lace Country Western Dance Club dances are held the first Saturday and third Friday of every month. Lessons are from 8-9 p.m. followed by open dancing from 9-11 p.m. $4 for members and first timers, $6 non-members, $5 students with ID. The MOMS Club of Augusta County East is a great way for stay-at-home and part-time moms to meet each other and their children, find support and have fun.  Please call for meeting time and place. The group meets the third Tuesday of each month.  Call toll free, (641) 715-3900, ext. 63211.

The Parkinson’s Disease Support Group is held on the first Saturday of each month from 2-3:30 p.m. at the Blue Ridge Church of Christ in Fishersville.

The Shenandoah Valley Gem and Mineral Society meets at 7:30 p.m. the second Monday of each month at the Church of the Brethren at 364 Bridge Ave., Waynesboro.

Shenandoah Valley Grief Services invites the public to participate in a “Coping with the Death of a Loved One” grief support group with Cynthia Long Lasher, D. Min., facilitator, on Thursday evenings, July 17-Sept. 4, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 2807 N. Augusta St., Staunton. There is no fee, but those interested are asked to preregister by calling 383-2902.

Successful Women’s Alliance Network (SWAN) meets at 8 a.m. each Wednesday at Charlton Groome on Goose Creek Road in Fishersville. SWAN is an organization of professional women from local businesses and non-profit organizations. Valley Mothers of Preschoolers meets the second and fourth Monday of each month, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at Wayne Hills Baptist Church. All mothers with children, from infanthood through kindergarten, are invited to attend. Free childcare is provided for the monthly meetings. VFW Post 2424 of Waynesboro meets on the third Tuesday of each month at Gavid’s Steak House, 1501 W. Broad St., Waynesboro.  Meal at 6:30 p.m. and meeting begins at 7 p.m.

The Waynesboro AARP luncheon meeting will be held the third Wednesday of each month at 11:30 a.m. at Summit Square. For reservations, call 942-4424 by noon the Monday before the meeting.

Waynesboro Democratic Committee meets the first Tuesday of each month at the Waynesboro Public Library (lower level), 7 p.m.

Waynesboro Duplicate Bridge Club has open game Thursdays at 10 a.m., at the Waynesboro Country Club, Stratified Game on Mondays at 7 p.m., Daily Living Center.  For information, call Betsy Ruehl, 942-3667.

The Waynesboro Elks now meet every second and fourth Thursday of the month at 8 p.m. There is a dinner special at 6 p.m. each meeting night and every Friday night. The BPOE No. 2270 Elks lodge is located at 1700 Harvard Road in Waynesboro. All Elks are welcome. For more information, call 942-9108.
The Waynesboro Newcomers’ Social Club extends a hand of friendship and fellowship to all recent transplanted women residents of Waynesboro and the surrounding areas of Augusta County. The club has a coffee and social meeting at 9 a.m. on the third Thursday of each month, except July and August,  in the multi-purpose room of the Waynesboro Public Library.

The Waynesboro Paranormal Research Group meets monthly at the Waynesboro Public Library on Wayne Avenue, from 7-9 p.m. on the fourth Monday of each month.  At this time, investigations are planned and training held on the many scientific instruments used. Info: 337-4144.

The Waynesboro Women’s Club Clothes Closet will be open every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon. Clothing and house wares are free for clients of social services, church referrals and people with temporary special needs. The Clothes Closet is at the Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, 364 Bridge Ave., lower level.

The Wednesday Night Book Club meets every third Wednesday of the month at the Waynesboro Public Library from 7-8 p.m.  Call 942-6746 for more information.

The Waynesboro Writer’s Group offers local writers information about the writing process and to provide mutual support. Meetings are free and open to the public, but registration is encouraged to ensure adequate space. Call 943-9999 if you plan to attend.
