"We will have tickets at the door, but we expect to be fairly packed," said band instructor Mike Wagner. "I'd advise anyone wanting to enjoy this to get there at least by 6:30 to purchase tickets."
The fundraiser gives the Jazz Ensemble a great opportunity and outlet to play, according to Wagner.
"There will be much to eat and drink and the Jazz Ensemble will play a variety of music," he explained. "[The band] will be in their dress tuxedos and black dresses. We will have tablecloths, candles, elegant desserts and drinks. The Jazz Ensemble will be playing Big Band tunes, 40s, some modern jazz and a mixture of elegant tunes."
Wagner has been in charge of arranging the entertainment, but band students and their parents have been busy arranging for desserts to be donated for the occasion.
"They've been making phone calls to get the desserts donated," he said. "We will have an assortment of desserts and some expensive cheesecakes with toppings."
Tickets to the event are $5 for singles and $8 for a couple.
"We always designate an area for people who want to dance," Wagner said. "Everyone seems to always have a lot of fun. There is always a handful that is in the mood to dance. Last year there was this one elderly couple that really took advantage of the dance floor.
"I encourage everyone to come and support this fundraiser and the students who are playing and have arranged this for the community," Wagner said. "Anyone who hasn't participated in Spring Fling should come and witness the elegant occasion that's been lined up to entertain those interested in jazz, elegant desserts or just a good time."
