DOOMS — A 19-year-old Stuarts Draft woman was in critical condition Tuesday at the University of Virginia Medical Center, where she was airlifted after her car was T-boned by another vehicle at the intersection of Purple Cow Road and Eastside Highway.
The Virginia State Police said Kristen Benavitch, 19, of Stuarts Draft, pulled out of Purple Cow Road at Eastside Highway without stopping for the stop sign.
A northbound 2007 Dodge truck driven by Gary Shifflett Jr., 38, of Grottoes, smashed into Benavitch’s 1985 Honda Accord, State Trooper Doug Brydge said.
The crash happened at about 11 a.m., and traffic was delayed along Eastside Highway. Brydge said the scene was cleared by about 12:30 p.m.
Charges are pending, Brydge said.
