VERONA — The Middlebrook Library Station got the green light Wednesday night from the Augusta County Board of Supervisors.
Startup funding and a lease agreement for the facility were approved.
The library station, which will be located in the old Brubeck’s Hardware in Middlebrook, should open by September, said Diantha McCauley, director of the Augusta County Library.
When it opens the Middlebrook facility will join similar library stations in Deerfield and Craigsville. A library branch is located in Churchville and the main library is in Fishersville.
McCauley said the facility’s tentative hours include Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3-9 p.m., Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The project has already received volunteer time and monetary donations.
“There’s been a wonderful job of drumming up support,” McCauley said.
McCauley and Riverheads Supervisor Nancy Sorrells believe the Middlebrook Library Station will attract families from much of the surrounding area.
McCauley said both young and old will come to the station from Middlebrook, Greenville and Steeles Tavern.
“It will run the gamut of ages,” she said.
The library should have a collection of about 5,000 items, including books, videos, DVDS, books on CD and tape, magazines and newspapers. The bulk of the materials will come from the county library collection.

Very good idea. There can hardly ever be too many libraries or library stations.
