The Avante at Waynesboro nursing home will unveil an all-new physical rehabilitation unit in a ribbon cutting ceremony at 2:00 p.m. today.
The new facility will include 26 beds for patients in need of short-term, 24-hour care while they recover from specific injuries or medical procedures.
“We’re looking for patients to come in, do rehab and hopefully after short stay, get better and go home,” said Shirley Brown, Avante’s director of community relations.
As the baby boomer generation ages, demand for treatment options geared towards keeping people in their homes for as long as possible is expected to increase, Brown said. The new rehabilitation wing is designed to cater to that market, she said.
