Vandals caused $10,000 in damage to Ridgeview Park overnight, according to Waynesboro police.
Multiple vandals between 9 p.m. Aug. 16 and 7 a.m. Aug. 17 caused “enormous” damage to the park’s restrooms, picnic tables, pavillion and amphitheater, says a media release from the Waynesboro Police Department.
In addition, the Serenity Garden, in the southwest corner of the park, sustained damage.
The damage, police said, includes numerous shattered sinks and toilets, broken windows and light fixtures, upended garbage cans and picnic tables and signs thrown into the South River near the footbridge.
Anyone with information is asked to call Central Shenandoah Crimestoppers at 1-800-322-2017. Callers with information leading to an arrest may receive cash rewards up to $1,000, and the information can be given anonymously, police say.
