Shenandoah search to continue Thursday

More than 40 people searched Shenandoah National Park Wednesday for a Staunton man last seen Monday afternoon.

Search of the Cedar Mountain area were to continue until dark and resume Thursday with additional resources, according to an afternoon press release from the park.

A hasty search for Earl Funk, 50, was conducted by volunteers and friends in the Cedar Mountain area before the Albermarle Sheriff’s Office, Albermarle County Police Department and a Virginia State Police K-9 team joined the ongoing search, according to a press release. The sheriff’s office and Shenandoah National Park personnel lead the joint operation.

Funk is described as a male with brown hair and green eyes, 5’ 8” tall who weighs approximately 145 pounds. It is believed that he is wearing dark pants and a light shirt.
