Snow plowable markers to be installed on several roads

The Virginia Department of Transportation plans to install – and replace – snow-plowable markers at several locations in the Staunton and Culpeper districts.
The work will begin May 19, and is scheduled to be finished by October 1 – weather permitting.
VDOT identified new markers on the basis of traffic volumes, accident history, fog conditions, mountainous terrain and public requests.
Locations of the new markers:

Augusta County
Route 254
Route 608

Rockingham County
Route 11
Route 33
Route 42
Route 259

Frederick County
Route 522

Clarke County
Route 340
Route 612
Route 654

Highland County
Route 250 at Bullpasture Mountain

The average age of the lenses being replaced is three to four years old. The following roads will have lenses replaced:

Augusta County
Interstate 64

Rockingham County
Interstate 81

Albemarle County
Route 53
Route 250

Alleghany County
Interstate 64

Bath County
Route 39 on mountain

Shenandoah County
Interstate 81

Warren County
Interstate 66
Route 638
