MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, Minn. – Vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin brought down the house at the Republican National Convention on Wednesday night as thousands cheered and waved signs and roared approval as she accepted her party’s nomination. It was an electrifying evening as earlier speakers, including Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, and Mike Huckabee, led up to her speech.
However, the star of the evening was Palin and, when she was announced, roar of the crowd almost blew the roof off the Xcel Energy Center in a welcome that lasted five minutes or longer. Her remarks were excellent and delegates jumped to their feed throughout the evening in agreement.
At the conclusion of her speech, when her family entered onto the stage, another roar went up, and then presidential nominee John McCain joined them and again the crowd went wild. It was a memorable evening, an historical event, and something to be savored by women everywhere.
The party continued after her remarks when country singers Gretchen Wilson, Cowboy Troy, and John Rich stood on stage and sang the National Anthem followed by John Rich singing his self-penned “Raising McCain” that had delegates dancing in the aisles.
Thursday night will be the big event. Security issues have arisen during the afternoon and all delegates have been told to be at the Xcel Center 90 minutes earlier than originally planned so we are preparing to head over at 3 p.m.
It has been an exciting week so far and everyone is pumped about our nominees and the direction of our party.
