Ward 1: Voter chooses “lesser evil”

Gregory Lynne went to Staunton’s Ward 1 polling place, Bessie Weller Elementary School, despite reservations about both major party presidential candidates.
“I feel it’s my duty to vote, even if the system is flawed,“ the lukewarm Sen. John McCain supporter said.
The self-described Christian called McCain a “legal bigamist” because of his second marriage and Sen. Barack Obama an “illegal candidate” because he doubts his citizenship.
Election official Mary K. Fitzgerald reported 1,437 voters at the ward by 2 p.m.
