Staunton police officers expecting to help a stranded motorist instead found a fight and twice deployed tasers when a Grottoes woman lashed out Saturday.
A Staunton officer found Rebecca Fink, 30, laying behind her truck on the northbound shoulder of Commerce Road shortly after 11 p.m.
Noticing the “strong smell” of alcohol, he attempted to arrest Fink for being drunk in public, police said, but the woman fought and grabbed the officer’s groin, launching a nearly 10-minute struggle that netted her two felony assault charges.
Fink kicked a second officer in the stomach as the pair tried to carry her to the police cruiser, police said.
But she wasn’t finished.
Fink pushed her way out of the cruiser, was unsuccessfully tasered once, then immediately tasered a second time before submitting to the arrest.
She faces two charges of felonious assault on officers, obstruction of justic and drunk in public. Fink is out on bond from Middle River Regional Jail in Verona.

I hope she is out of jail and into an alcohol recovery program.
