A Fishersville man has been charged with two crimes after he fled Waynesboro police following a traffic stop Thursday night.
Reynaldo Lee Woodard, 24, of Fishersville, is charged with a felony, carrying a concealed weapon, and a misdemeanor charge of obstructing justice.
Police said Woodard was stopped after speeding in a Pontiac Sunfire on Port Republic Road just before 9 Thursday night.
A K-9 officer and dog in the area found the odor of drugs in Woodard’s car. A search of the Sunfire revealed a Lorcin .380 handgun in the car’s center console.
Woodard struggled with officers and fled. He ran several blocks near the Ming Garden Restaurant on Arch Avenue where he was arrested.
Woodard is being held in the Middle River Regional Jail.
