Pizza deliveryman robbed at gunpoint

Waynesboro police are looking for three men who robbed a pizza deliveryman at gunpoint late Wednesday night on Alpha Street.

Police responded to the call about 10:30 p.m. Wednessday.

The 31-year-old victim said he was met by three young black men in the 400 block of Alpha where he was making a delivery.

The men came out from behind the residence. Two of the men were armed with pistols.

Waynesboro police said the deliveryman was forced to empty his pockets.

The men took the pizza, his wallet, an undisclosed amount of cash and his car keys.

The men left in the southerly direction of Port Republic Road.

The deliveryman went to Florence Avenue and called police through 911.

Sgt. Kelly Walker said some men were detained 45 minutes after the robbery on Ivy Street, but subsequently were released.

Walker said the investigation continues.
