A former Mary Baldwin College professor charged in a 26-count indictment of possessing child pornography turned himself in to the Staunton Sheriff’s Office sometime Monday, according to Officer Lisa Klein of the Staunton Police Department.
Chadwick Blackwell, 40, of Staunton, was processed and taken into custody, Klein said, but she was not aware of his post-arrest status.
Last week, a Staunton grand jury indicted Blackwell, who had resigned his assistant psychology position earlier this month, according to the college, having worked as a professor there since 2002. He was not tenured.
He was suspended from his job in October, according to Crista Cabe, Mary Baldwin’s associate vice president of communications, marketing and public affairs. The college became aware of Blackwell possessing material at the college after a student saw images on his college computer last fall.
