A 72-year-old Staunton man has been charged with two misdemeanor counts of sexual battery in connection with separate incidents several months apart on West Beverley Street.
Clestion Washington of Staunton was arrested Sunday, said Officer Lisa Klein, public information officer for the Staunton police.
Washington is charged with sexual battery, which involves fondling or improper touching, and carries a penalty on each count of up to one year in jail.
Police were called to investigate the improper touching of a 17-year-old female Sunday in the 1500 block of West Beverley. Klein said Washington was formally accused in that case.
During the course of that investigation, police discovered a 20-year-old victim who said a similar incident of fondling involving Washington had happened in April in the 2400 block of West Beverley.
Washington was not being held at the Middle River Regional Jail Thursday.
