A Waynesboro man wanted on a firearms possession charge was caught in a gas station bathroom after a foot chase in the city this morning.
Police received a tip that William Feck, 21, was in the area of Hardee’s on West Main Street around 11 a.m., according to Sgt. Kelly Walker. Officers arrived and Feck ran behind the adjacent Long John Silver’s.
From there, he went toward Scotto’s Italian Restaurant on West Broad Street before heading to the Amoco at 1441 West Main Street, going inside the bathroom door where three officers cornered him. Feck put up his hands and surrendered to police, Walker said.
Walker said four to five officers were involved in the chase.
“One thing that people can’t outrun is the radio,” Walker said, “and that’s a real advantage to us, being able to communicate from one officer to the other.”
Feck, wanted since May 30 for a probation violation and a possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, is being held at the Middle River Regional Jail in Verona.
Walker said police are talking to the magistrate about a possible additional charge of obstruction.
