The Waynesboro City Council is holding a budget work session this evening at 6 p.m. at the Charles T. Yancey Municipal Building, where council members are expected to discuss trimming about $600,000 from the proposed budget.
City Manager Doug Walker on Friday released a $1.5 million list of possible cuts from what is now a $39.4 million budget.
Councilman Frank Lucente last week introduced a real estate tax rate of 70 cents per $100 of assessed value, down four cents from what Walker first proposed in his budget.
The Waynesboro City Council will meet with state legislators Monday, June 2 at the Staunton City Hall at 116 West Beverley Street.
