Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Mark Warner will make several Waynesboro stops Saturday before appearing at an evening fundraiser at the Frontier Culture Museum in Staunton.
Warner Spokesman Kevin Hall said Warner will appear at the Waynesboro Democratic Committee headquarters opening at 1 p.m.
The headquarters will be located at Willow Oak Plaza on Broad Street next to the Artisans Center of Virginia, said Waynesboro Democratic Committee Chairman Chris Graham.
Graham said Warner will be the keynote speaker for the headquarters opening.
The headquarters appearance will be followed by a downtown walking tour along Main Street at 2 p.m.
Graham said Warner will talk to downtown merchants in Waynesboro’s core business area.
A reception for Warner will follow at between 2:30 and 2:45 p.m. at the Waynesboro Heritage Museum at Wayne Avenue and Main Street.
Warner will appear at the local “Paint the Valley Blue” Democratic fundraiser in the evening at the Frontier Culture Museum.
Warner, who served as Virginia’s governor from 2002-06, is opposed by former Gov. Jim Gilmore in the November election. The two candidates are vying to replace retiring U.S. Sen. John Warner.
The “Paint the Valley Blue” fundraiser will also feature Sixth District Democratic Congressional candidate Sam Rasoul and Democratic gubernatorial hopeful, Sen. Creigh Deeds, according to Graham.
“Paint The Valley Blue” starts at 5:30 p.m., and will include music by Rhythm Road and Barbara Martin, a barbecue dinner and live and silent auctions.
