Michael will step down as county GOP chairman

Augusta County Republican Committee Chairman Kurt Michael has made it official, he will step down as chairman after a 6th District Republican Committee meeting on Saturday in Lexington.
In a letter sent to Republican blogs Tuesday, Michael said “with my resignation, I am offering an invitation to Sen. Emmett Hanger and his followers to come back into the Republican fold and focus on the true challenge of the fall elections.“
Michael said it will be up to the Augusta County Republican Committee to hold a new election for a chairman. Hanger could not be reached for comment this morning.
