Warner’s pay raise just as bad as AIG bonuses
We note an item in the March 15 edition of the Richmond Times-Dispatch that Sen. Mark Warner voted to accept an annual automatic congressional pay raise while many of his colleagues felt it was inappropriate in view of the country’s economic chaos.

Intimidation through taxes
Since The News Virginian has in recent days looked into the tax payment history of a private citizen and splashed that report all over their front page (“Chester owes IRS back taxes,” March 11), I wonder if they’ll expand their investigation?

Appraisers, assessors lack common sense
After meeting with the representatives of Blue Ridge Mass Appraisals and a member of the Augusta County assessment board, I’ve now realized how far from reality I really am.
Attention must be paid to senators
People, we desperately need a lesson in government and politics. It seems that most Americans think that electing a new president is the answer to all problems. It seems that we think that we live in a dictatorship where the president simply speaks and it shall be done. Wrong! That’s why we need to be educated.
