We need to get back to the truth
In John 18, Jesus Christ stands before Roman procurator Pontius Pilate, who at that moment in history was Jesus' judge. Jesus makes a most profound statement in verse 37 when Pilate asks Jesus, "Art thou a king, then," to which Jesus declared, "Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Everyone that is of the truth, heareth my voice." Pilate then sarcastically asks, "What is truth-" Jesus had just told his inner circle that He is truth (John 14:6). He had also told them that God's word is truth (John 17:17).
Today, truth has been replaced by many with relativism. Truth is whatever you, the situation or purpose might dictate. Religion is probably the most divisive contingent upon which all our world problems exist. There are more than 1 billion adherents to Islam, who believe that Jesus Christ was not God's final revelation to man. They are wrong. They profess that God's holy word is not complete without "their" revelation (Rev. 22:18). Others have their special books, even given by angels. Paul admonishes us in Galatians 1:8, "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel … let him be accursed - 'anathema.' "
The gospel is simply this, Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, died on the cross, was dead, buried and raised the third day according to the Scriptures (1 Cor. 15:1-4). Many say they believe this, but add their relativism - "our prophet" said we can become gods. Man cannot evolve to godhood, as some falsely teach. God is unique (read Isaiah 42-45) and will not share His glory with any. The blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross as Pilate decreed is sufficient to make atonement for all my sins (yours too), if we only come to Him in faith and repentance.
Let us, in this last/lost generation, get back to the Book, God's holy Bible. It needs no further revelation. Study it and God's holy spirit will guide you into all truth. In Rev. 20:11-15 we see Pilate, Christ's judge, stand before the son of man, Jesus (John 5:22), the judge of all Earth, to receive his sentence - eternal death in the lake of fire. (No annihilation here!) How about you- Truth or lie-

A thank you for picking up the bill
I want to say a special thank you to the nice lady who paid my grocery bill Feb. 2 at Food Lion in Fishersville. I have never had anything like that happen to me before. I was really overwhelmed.
I don't know who the lady was, but I hope she sees my thank you. I will pass the kindness on to someone else.
May God bless you with his richest blessings.

Derby interferes with downtown business
In response to Betty Harding's letter ("What's wrong with the Soap Box Derby-" Feb. 28), I would like to tell you the Soap Box Derby event is not a matter of dollars and cents. But frankly it is. And being in business, especially in downtown Waynesboro, dollars and cents make the difference between being in business or out of business. The art and muscle car shows and other downtown events do not cause us to lose a great deal of money. The Soap Box Derby is a much different story. Why- The other events have worked with merchants. The Soap Box Derby does not. And I don't blame it all on Soap Box Derby, not when council literally gives them the run of the town without insisting they compromise with people they are going to hurt. There are solutions but no one will listen or change. Show me I won't lose a penny and I would love the town to have an event downtown everyday.

Democrats' priorities are questionable
I find it quite instructive that the Democratic Party expresses great concern over wiretapping phone calls that involve terrorists, yet Democrats in the Virginia General Assembly have no problem making public the names and addresses of law-abiding citizens who have obtained concealed carry gun permits.
What's wrong with this picture-
