Keep the tax rate low

On Tuesday, May 29 at 7 p.m., the tax rate for the coming year will be decided. Citizens, it is up to you to lower the tax rate to 64 cents per hundred, as requested by Councilman Frank Lucente.

As mayoral and council elections are coming up, maybe the leaders will listen to our request and plea's for help.

I urge the re-election of Timothy Williams and Frank Lucente, the legislators with a heart, who truly care for the people of Waynesboro. Taxpayers, renters and homeowners alike, will benefit from a lower rate. Will we have to move to Augusta County, with a tax rate of .58 per hundred-

The reason behind Wayne support

The truth regarding Loris Smith supporting tax money for the Wayne Theatre emerges. Thanks to Bobby Hippert for this information. Maybe someone else can tell us why Nancy Dowdy and Tom Reynolds support the Theatre project.

Also, thanks again to Dr. Ed Hollowell for a brilliant solution to the Theatre problem.

John Wingfield
