A Flag Day without flags
It would seem that everyone in America would be flying their American flag on Flag Day, that is everyone but the city of Waynesboro.
Downtown hasn't flown the flag for some time now. I noticed downtown was absent the usual rows of American Flags last Memorial Day, and have been asking everyone who will listen why ever since.
It seems the flags Waynesboro has used in the past are now missing.
So today as you stride down Main Street, you will not see, or hear, the Stars and Stripes unfurling in the breeze.
We are a nation at war; we have veterans of every branch living in this area. Some veterans are of the World War II generation, some Korea, some Vietnam, some the Gulf War and some, like me, the War on Terror.
All deserve to see those flags flying, whether they are a veteran of a foreign war or not.
Today's younger generation needs to understand patriotism, and appreciate what they have here in America.
Waynesboro's seeming nonchalance about displaying their patriotism helps the younger folks with their apathy.
Please remember we have had three local young men die in Iraq: Lance Corporal Jason Redifer; Lance Corporal Daniel Bubb and Lance Corporal Daniel Morris, all 19 years old.
Please remember and honor their sacrifice, and start flying the American flag again, Waynesboro.

Time to hold Bush accountable
How long must the American people suffer under this administration before Congress takes steps to protect us and the values set forth in the Constitution of the United States-
It is time to hold the Bush Administration accountable for the actions that have caused so much damage.
