First of all, I need to thank this community for all of its support in the last 26 years of the “Tim Spears Christmas Fund.” With your support, we have successfully helped thousands of children that, without us, would have very little or no Christmas at all.
We are now in the middle of our 27th annual fundraiser and need your help again. I have been getting more calls from people in dire need than ever before in the history of this event. I don’t have to elaborate on this subject as you well know that times are tight and most household money is going for necessities first. This leaves a lot of children without Christmas gifts. To a small child, if most every one of his classmates gets Christmas gifts and he doesn’t, you only have to wonder how he rationalizes this scenario.
If you would like to donate to this organization, please send your tax-deductible donations to: Tim Spears Christmas Fund, 216 W. Main St., Waynesboro, VA 22980.
I would like to thank Fred Painter for his help in organizing the musical show that is the backbone of this operation. For the last several years he has, with his brother Garfield, organized the show in its entirety. If you don’t believe this is a task, you should try it sometime. He truly is a godsend for these children. Fred has a heart like no one else whom I have ever met. After a battle with his health last year, at the show itself, his doctor promised him that he would be back this year to promote the show yet again. The doctor, along with all of our prayers being answered from the good Lord, kept his promise. Because of that, a lot of young children will be benefited.
Lastly, thanks to The News Virginian for its coverage of this event every year. It has been their dedication to cover this event that has given us just what we have needed to survive.
God bless you all and happy holidays!
