In a Nov. 7 letter, Phil Wintry tells us that “for God’s sake” Democrats should refrain from blaming President Bush for any problems in the future. Ah, would that we could so easily dismiss the $4.5 trillion he has added to the national deficit and the enormous interest we must pay on it each year. Or the vanity war he will leave us to somehow mop up. Or the systematic policy of torture he personally ordered.
Or the near total loss of global support and respect we had after 9/11.
But I’ll tell you what, Mr. Wintry. I’ll stop blaming Bush at least as quickly as you stopped blaming President Clinton for your problems, OK?
