Each and every day, I appreciate the good things about Waynesboro. We have the beauty of the mountains and river; outdoor and sports events from the Fly Fishing Festival to Waynesboro Generals baseball; concerts, plays, artists and a great bookstore; caring friends and neighbors; and we can each see the positive impact of our community involvement. With all that we have going for us, Waynesboro does face challenges, and that is why the upcoming City Council elections are critical to our future.
We must resolve our longstanding stormwater issues; repair our streets and bridges; provide effective fire and police protection to our residents; turn the South River from a liability to an asset; strengthen our schools with Standards of Learning accreditation, increased graduation rates and more young people continuing their education beyond high school; and we must work with the private sector to revitalize our downtown.
I support Chris Graham in the Ward B race because he has the vision, dedication and leadership skills to build on our successes and move Waynesboro forward. Graham recognizes that, unless we meet the challenges, Waynesboro will lose on quality-of-life issues. We will not be a community that can attract new or expanded businesses that offer well-paying jobs. We will not have the qualified workforce that our businesses need to succeed. We will not be a place to which our young people want to return, where families want to raise their children or where people want to stay upon retirement.
Graham is running a positive campaign centered on the issues that are important to Waynesboro. He takes the time to really understand each one and to listen to all sides of the debate. He will bring the cooperative leadership that we need on the City Council. Vote for a positive outlook and for someone who believes in Waynesboro’s future. Vote for Chris Graham on May 6.
