Kate Collins Middle School secretaries, teachers and administrators recently had to manage an unforeseen tragedy in the loss of a beloved teacher and friend, Glenn Anderson (“Augusta soccer loses two coaches,” May 20).
From the very first phone call received from the school allowing us parents to be there with our children when they broke the news in person to the end of that sad day, we will never forget the kindness showed to all of the students and families.
The professionalism at that school on that day and time was unsurpassed. From the secretaries to the teachers, and to the administrators, you were both professional and brave in managing this chaotic end to a very difficult day. We were allowed to find our children and hold them after they received the very difficult news. You allowed counselors and ministers to be there to hold our children while they wept. School Superintendent Robin Crowder, you were there for us parents and allowed us to handle this in our own personal way with our children.
Kate Collins Middle school faculty and staff, thank you for all you do each and every day in the middle school. But most importantly, thank you for helping us initially cope with such a tremendous loss to our community and schools.
