Tennis has returned to the River City. What a delightful time was had by all who participated in the Cancer Tennis Tournament held recently on the new Ridgeview Park tennis courts. The new courts, which were built in conjunction with the City of Waynesboro; the Staunton, Waynesboro and Augusta Tennis Association (SWAT); and a grant from the United States and Virginia Tennis Association are a superb addition to our wonderful park facilities. The setting along the river is magnificent!
Over $3,000 was raised for the American Cancer Society. Our wonderful sponsors, Waynesboro Florist and Jim Snead Ford, helped bring the journey to fruition. A big thank you to Waynesboro High School for allowing us the use of courts. It was truly a community coming together for the betterment of its citizens. We had 56 teams entered, which was a large number for a weekend.
Once again, thanks to all who added to the success of the journey and “keep fighting” for the cure.
