Brown outruns Boyd in Super Pro final
Despite being the first really hot and humid day of the 2008 SBRA Drag Racing season, a large number of drivers and fans toughed out the oppressive heat to enjoy a night of racing on Eastside’s eighth-mile dragstrip. Jamie Brown lined up in the Goads lane while Jeff Boyd lined up in the Trans Tech lane for the final in Super Pro racing. Boyd dialed in a 5.13 in his flamed blue Dragster while over on the other side Jamie Brown dialed his orange-and-white Camaro in on a 6.03. Brown cut a great light and at the other end run a 6.05 at 115.8 mph for the win while Boyd ran to fast for the runner up spot. An excited Brown crew celebrated in the winner’s circle as Brown fanned out his winnings for pictures.Keith gets first Eastside win
Some drivers have to work extra hard to win a race. David Keith worked for the past eight years to finally land a win at Eastside Speedway on Saturday night after taking over the lead late in the Delmar’s Body Shop Late Model feature. “I’ve waited a very long time to win one of these,” said the Weyers Cave driver. “I’ve been racing in several divisions in all kinds of cars before finally winning a race and I have to thank all of my friends, family and sponsors for helping me get here.”May 25, 2008
Johnson takes home gold
Saturday’s feature event for the Outlaw Kart Series was a 25-lap event for the Gold Plate drivers which was sponsored by Trans Tech Towing. Dylan Johnson scored the big win after an exciting race that saw a number of late race passes and cautions. The fight for positions caused a series of cautions from drivers racing hard for the win. In the end it was Johnson crossing the stripe first with Tim Weaver Jr. second, Sierra Cusson third, Travis Conner fourth and Dillyn Leake fifth.Leavell wins fourth race
While it took a little longer to get out front, Joe “The Hammer” Leavell landed his fourth Late Model win of the season on Saturday night at Eastside Speedway. Earlier in the night’s program, Greg Roberson ripped up the race track to win the CINTAS Quik Trip Qualifier award with a time of 18.730, the only driver to eclipse the 19 second bracket.
