Indians win Southern Valley tournament
FORT DEFIANCE — Ten district wins and two trophies later, the Indians are ready for Region III. On Tuesday afternoon the young Indians squad continued its dominance of the Southern Valley District, defeating Stuarts Draft 7-1 to capture the district tournament championship.May 16, 2008
Cougars’ rally stops Waynesboro
STUARTS DRAFT — Stuarts Draft will get to play at least one more game at home. With the Southern Valley District’s No. 2 Region III seed on the line the Cougars needed a late rally against Waynesboro to lock up a first-round region home game. PREP ROUNDUP: Cougars slam Wildcats
In Rockbridge, the Cougars wrapped up their Southern Valley District season on Thursday with a 5-1 win over the Wildcats. Jeremy Fitzgerald pitched the complete game to pick up the win for the Cougars (9-8, 4-4 Southern Valley), striking out one while allowing five hits. FORT DEFIANCE — Stuarts Draft’s early mistakes helped Fort Defiance clinch an 8-6 victory and, more importantly, the Southern Valley District title on Wednesday. The first inning started out rough for the Cougars, giving up errors and runs. After Fort walked Draft’s leadoff batter, Amber Christy, they quickly made up for it with a double play on the next batter, Lindsay Iseli.
