Grubb survies illness, Group A meet
RADFORD — The Group A Track and Field Championships of 2008 won’t soon be forgotten on Riverheads’ super-sophomore Rebecca Grubb. Grubb fought off a high fever and the lingering effects of strep throat to take third in the 800-meter run and then ran the opening leg of the Gladiators’ second-place 4x400-meter relay team.May 23, 2008

In Charlottesville, Wilson Memorial’s Josh Stewart carried the team with 20¼ points heading late into the night at the Region B track meet at Monticello High School on Friday. Stewart was fourth in the long jump (21-feet), second in the 100-meter dash (11.37 seconds), second in the 200-meter dash (22.98) and anchored the sixth place 4x100-meter team.May 15, 2008
Gladiators sweep district meet
HARRISONBURG — The Riverheads girls ended Buffalo Gap’s six-year winning streak, taking the Shenandoah District girls track championship with a 38-point win over runner-up Wilson Memorial. Riverheads took the boys championship as well, defeating Stonewall Jackson. Leading the way for the Riverheads girls was sophomore Rebecca Grubb who took first in the 200- and 400-meter dashes. Grubb also finished second in the triple jump, fourth in 100-meter dash and fifth in the long jump to score 34 points.Page 1 of 1 pages
