SADLER: On the river with Adaptive Anglers
SADLER: On the river with Adaptive Anglers This past Saturday I had the chance to watch some very talented anglers enjoy fall fishing on the Moormans river west of White Hall. What was truly remarkable about this group of anglers was that they all had a physical or developmental disability, a chronic illness or other special health needs.

SACCO: Why not this year? (or the next) Nobody has won anything yet. The refs haven’t even tossed the ball in the air at midcourt, fercryingoutloud (at least, not in a real-time game yet).

JIM LITKE : Hayes says ‘What a stupid I am’ The moment J.P. Hayes looked down at the golf ball on the floor in his hotel room, he knew there were only two options. Keep his mouth shut and his chances of playing full-time on the PGA Tour next season alive. Or pick up the phone and disqualify himself.

SADLER: Putting trout in the classroom
SADLER: Putting trout in the classroom On Saturday, I spent most of the day at the Virginia Council of Trout Unlimited’s Annual Meeting. Since it was pouring rain (thankfully, we sure do need it), I didn’t feel too bad about missing the pleasure of sitting in the woods waiting for a deer.
SACCO: Spitzer deserved so much more
SACCO: Spitzer deserved so much more That Fort Defiance Principal Larry Landes only said “no comment” speaks volumes about how little this school administration values years of service, years of dedication and years of headaches.

SACCO: Experience ruled the day RICHMOND Experience, in sports, is spoken of like it’s some sort of Holy Grail. Manna, if you will, raining down from the top of the gym to feed those who have been there and done that before.

WILSON EXTRA: Sacco: Wilson deserves some props Let’s just get this out of the way, bub. Because you know at some point someone is going to bring it up. Whether they’re looking to discredit Wilson Memorial’s three-game sweep of the defending Group A champs, or whether their knowledge of volleyball in the state of Virginia is still stuck somewhere in the Midwest.

SADLER: A look at conservation and the next administration Before returning to civilization here in the Valley, I spent 27 years in Washington, D.C., working on public policy. For the last 10 years I worked on issues directly impacting hunting, fishing and land conservation. During a recent visit back to D.C., I was asked to offer my opinion on the outlook for hunting and fishing issues in the next administration.

FIFE: U.Va. fan’s survival guide It’s not easy being a U.Va. fan. The open date this weekend gave me an opportunity to reflect what has become of the football program and make me question my sanity as I continue to cling loyally to a team and that hasn’t brought me much joy in recent years.
