In Fishersville, the Wilson Memorial cross country team swept both the girls and boys races on Wednesday against Buffalo Gap.
The Green Hornet’s boys squad, led by Michael Barnes (17:51) and Quinton Knott (17:56), edged the Bison by only one point, putting together a team score of 27.
Ryan Pyles (18:26) was the first runner to cross the line for the Bison with his teammate, Aaron Pollard (18:31), behind him. Wilson’s Evan Underwood (18:41) rounded out the top-five.
Buffalo Gap’s Laura Knott took the top spot for the girls with a 22:15 with Wilson’s Rachel Boxley (22:38) following close behind her. But the first place finish wasn’t enough for the Bison, as Wilson won the race 26-33.
Gaps’ Kelly Sheridan (23:15) took third, Wilson’s Meg Boysen (23:28) was fourth and the Hornet’s Emily Boward (24:22) rounded out the top five.
