Greg Roberson zoomed into the lead of the Delmar’s Body Shop Late Model feature on the second lap and never looked back en route to his third win of the season on Saturday night at Eastside Speedway.
Earlier in the CINTAS Night of Racing program, Joe Leavell took the top spot in CINTAS Quik Trip qualifying with a fast time of 18.229, besting Jon Painter and Roberson.
On the Sportsman side, Daniel Brown Jr. was the only car to break into the 19’s with a Quik Trip time of 19.922.
The evening kicked off with a Nu-Valley Fence Dash-for-Cash where newcomer Brandon Umberger of Wytheville took the Late Model win with only Roberson nearby at the end of the five-lap shootout.
Tony Casady grabbed the lead early in the C & R Auto Service Grocery Getter feature and went on to win with R.W. Armstrong the only serious contender at the stripe. Eddie Moran, Owen Adelman and Robbie Armstrong wrapped up the top five.
The Cupp All-Parts Sportsman feature began with Chad Click on the pole with Mike Dudley and Derrick Rankin nearby. By lap 10, Ricky Fox and Daniel Brown Jr. filled Click’s mirrors as the two chasers battled each other for second.
At the checkers, it was Click grabbing his second win of the season with Fox, Brown, David Keith and Lee Jamerson capping the top five.
After a couple of complete restarts, one involving a flip off the track by Ray Carwell, Tim Schulte showed the Eastside Auto & Machine Shop Mini-Modified pack the fast way around the track with Ernie Alder the only challenger. Alder took over the lead on the sixth circuit, but two laps later, dropped out with mechanical woes.
Daniel Stickley reached the runner-up spot while Schulte picked up his first win of the season with Brad Conner, Kevin Campbell and Vincent Rexrode wrapping up the top five.
An opening lap multi-car wreck on the front stretch eliminated Kristian Looney and newcomer Kevin Atkins from starting in the Delmar’s Body Shop Late Model feature.
Two-more called-off starts required a single-file lineup with Roberson passing Umberger early. Roberson pulled away by as much as a straightaway before Umberger spun away his chances at a good finish in the fourth turn on lap 12.
With the field bunched up, Roberson was still able to pull away from Dave Sibold, Jon Painter and R.E. Cubbage. At the checkered flag, Roberson took his latest win in front of Painter, Sibold, Tommy Hoy and Cubbage.
Chad Click picked up his tenth win in the Street Stock division after taking the lead late in the 20-lap feature. Chip Glass, who led most of the race wound up second with Donald Hensley, Charles Wyant and Dakota Riggleman completing the top five.
Brad Sayler sailed away into victory lane for the fifth time this year in the Cohron Equipment U-CAR feature in flag-to-flag style. Troy Breeden, Ryan Warham, Troy Blankenship and Dusty Taylor made up the rest of the top five.
