Just before the halfway mark of the Late Model 50-lap feature, Greg Roberson took the lead from Kristian Looney and went on to claim the $1,000 top prize Saturday night at Eastside Speedway.
Earlier in the night’s racing program, Roberson also topped the speed charts during two-lap time trials with a time of 19.344, edging Joe Leavell and Buck Roadcap.
Late Model qualifying set up the start of the Nu-Valley Fence Dash-for-Cash where Jon Painter led from flag-to-flag, picking up the $150 prize for the five-lap sprint.
The C&R Auto Service Grocery Getter feature saw Tony Lam lead early only to drop out with a flat tire on lap 4. He later returned a lap down.
Owen Adelman inherited the lead and went on to claim his second checkers of the year, this one in front of Eddie Moran, R.W. Armstrong, Daniel Bowden and Tony Casady.
The Cupp All-Parts Sportsman feature turned out to be a marathon from the four starts needed to begin to the more than 30 minutes necessary to complete the 25-lap feature.
By the third lap, Ricky Fox took over the point from Donald Hensley with Jeremy Coffey a close second by the half. The caution flag flew again a few laps later when Coffey got into Fox as they came off Turn 4. Both cars incurred damage, but were able to restart at the back of the pack.
The situation handed the lead to Tony Knicely and he managed to hold off the damaged car of Daniel Brown Jr. to claim his first class win.
Rookie Derrick Rankin, Coffey and Fox wrapped up the top-five finishers.
Samuel Brown led every lap of the Eastside Auto & Machine Shop Mini-Modified feature with Brad Conner Travis Campbell, Gary Stiteler Jr and Keith Reynolds capping off the top five.
The big 50-lap show for the Late Models started with Looney quickly jumping to the point. On lap 12, Doug Hardy and Joe Leavell got together in Turn 1 with Hardy going over the bank.
Hardy returned with the car unscathed, yet caught up to Leavell under caution and rammed the rear left corner of Leavell’s car, bending sheet metal and wiping out the rear left tire.
Leavell pitted for repairs and restarted at the back of the pack. Hardy was black flagged off the track for the night.
Once underway, Roberson made his way by Jon Painter and then Looney as they came off Turn 4 for the lead.
For the remainder of the race, while Roberson was showing the field the fast way around the track, Leavell was on a mission back to the front, getting close to Roberson at the stripe. Tommy Hoy, Painter and Chris Barger completed the top five.
Cecil Cash led the opening laps of the Street Stock feature, but it was Chad Click standing tall in victory lane to claim his seventh win of the year. Cash, Charles Wyant, Dakota Riggleman and Dave Click capped the top five.
The Cohron Equipment U-car feature wrapped up the night’s racing with Brad Sayler picking up his third trophy of the year, this one in front of Eddie Lawhorne, Ryan Warham, Troy Breeden and Gary Estes.
