Giants pick up fourth win

In Waynesboro, the Little Giants picked up their fourth win of the volleyball season as Waynesboro won the five-game battle over Harrisonburg 25-14, 24-26, 25-22, 22-25, 15-13 on Tuesday in prep volleyball action.
Kayla Bartley had a big night for Waynesboro picking up eight kills and two blocks. Senior Maloree Kanney earned 16 service points with 10 set assists. Setter Rachel Binda slammed eight kills, 12 service points along with nine assists.
The Little Giants (0-8, 4-15) will travel to Turner Ashby on Thursday.
The Waynesboro jayvee swept the Blue Streaks 25-23, 25-11.
In other prep action:
Volleyball
n Grace Christian 3, VES 0
The Warriors finished out their season picking up their 11th win over VES 25-7, 25-14, 25-9 on Tuesday night.
Jenna Sweat had six kills in the win with three service points and Betsy Barrett had 11 assists with four aces. Mary Masincup had five aces and Karla Martin had four.
The Warriors will be back in action on Thursday when they host an opponent yet to be named in the first round of the Blue Ridge Tournament.
The Warriors JV team also won their match 25-10, 25-6.
n Western Albemarle 3, Orange 0
In Crozet, the Warriors finished the Jefferson District spotless yet again, beating Orange 25-17, 25-18, 25-15.
Stephanie Adams had 16 assists in the win and Chastity Lacy had six kills.
The Warriors (19-1, 12-0) will start the Jefferson District Tournament on Nov. 1 after getting the first round bye.
n Riverheads 3, Buffalo Gap 2
In Swoope, the Gladiators got some sweet revenge on Tuesday, defeating the Bison 17-25, 27-25, 22-25, 25-21, 16-14.
Kristen Moody led the Pride with 10 kills, 10 blocks and 15 digs. Leading the way for Buffalo Gap was Lindsay McGuffin who had 12 service points, 15 digs and 29 set assists. Cassie Deaver picked up 15 service points and 18 digs while Lauren Marshall added nine points, 13 digs and four blocks. Lauren McCutcheon had six service points, seven kills and 10 digs.
The Gladiator JV team also won its match 27-29, 25-20, 15-7 with Ali Casto leading with 13 service points. For Buffalo Gap, Natalie Smith earned nine kills and nine service points.
