Girls cross country coach and player of the year
Fort Defiance Coach David Stewart and cross country runner Whitney Fulk have been working together since she was on the Fort Defiance JV track team trying to keep busy after basketball season was over. At first she came out for the team as a sprinter but found her true calling a week later.
Jenkins signs to join VMI
Robert E. Lee running back Rajah Jenkins signed his letter of intent on Wednesday, announcing that he will play football for the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington.

GREENVILLE - Riverheads' version of the twin towers prevailed Saturday as the streamlined Gladiators defeated Luray 51-46, temporarily moving into first place in the Shenandoah District. The hard-fought win allowed the Gladiators to break out of a four-way logjam for the top spot in the league.

STUARTS DRAFT - Stuarts Draft was affected by ice-cold shooting early, but weathered the storm for a 47-39 win over Fort Defiance.

Lee stomps Wildcats
STAUNTON - R.E. Lee girls basketball coach Jeremy Hartman was glad to see February come to Paul Hatcher gymnasium on Friday night. Now, he hopes that the Lee Ladies will survive to see March after witnessing Lee blitz visiting Rockbridge 75-47.
Giants’ boys swim team places second
In Lynchburg, the Waynesboro boys swim team took second in the Region III swim meet Friday night. The Little Giants finished with a team score of 84 points, beating third-place Brookville and finishing behind Jefferson Forest. Jefferson Forest scored 131 points to claim the region crown.
Caissons secure second place in VIC
Fishburne Military School's intensity prevailed in its 74-60 win over Eastern Mennonite on Thursday, giving the Caissons the second-place slot in the Virginia Independent Conference.
Blue Ridge too much for Little Giants
Waynesboro kept it close in the first half, but Blue Ridge dwarfed the Little Giants in the second half to pull away for s 55-35 win Thursday in the River City.

Fort Defiance was a few missed buckets away from committing the biggest upset in the Southern Valley this season, but Waynesboro shook out the cobwebs in double overtime.
Bison ‘D’ stops Wilson
SWOOPE - Defense wins championships and Buffalo Gap is well on its way as the Bison defeated Wilson Memorial Tuesday night 38-35.
Prep Roundup
In Quicksburg, Josh Grant led the Riverheads boys basketball team with 17 points and Jeremy Heizer tossed in 16 as the Pride kept pace with the Shenandoah District bottleneck thanks to their 47-32 win over Stonewall Jackson on Tuesday. Lyndon Humphires scored nine points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Heizer corralled 11 boards in the win.

Prep Roundup: Warriors down Govs
In Lovingston, Mary Schwartz scored 16 points for Western Albemarle and Sadeeka Dosu and Shannon Bayliss each added nine as the Warriors' girls team beat Nelson County 48-32 on Monday.
Treys are wild in Cougar win
There were nearly as many varsity and junior varsity players on the benches as there were bodies in the stands as Stuarts Draft pulled out a highly competitive 51-45 win over Spotswood in what would have been a meaningful game just one year ago.

In Broadway, the Waynesboro boys basketball team escaped a scrappy Broadway team on Friday night picking up a 49-46 non-district win.
